Prayer requests

Please remember our missionaries and their ministries.

Myamar recovery

It has been over four months since Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar and while food supply is no longer an issue, some villagers have lost their breadwinners and many others their boats, rice fields, and vegetable plots. Please continue to pray for different Christian organizations as they find ways to help build livelihood again.

John and Jenn

John, Jenn and their four children serve in SE Asia, teaching and equipping area leaders in their ministries through regular prayer, visits, regular phone calls and email, an annual retreat and an annual team leaders' training. They continue to stay involved with local ministries and church plants. More specifically, Jenn relentlessly outreaches to brothels through prayer walks and relationship building, and assists in finding alternate livelihoods for these women. Their four children continue to be homeschooled. Please pray for compassion, strength, and perseverance as they care for more area leaders and focus on a few key people in their local ministries.

Jonathan and Grace

It has been a year and a half since they relocated to a new area where they have gotten to know two seekers, built good relationships with young teachers, came across persons of peace, settled in a home on campus and their children have found dear friends. Some of their recent adventures include confronting a neighbor who sings at 1am, 3am and 5am for hours on end, and learning how to street-surf on a wave board. Jonathan was also approached by the dean of Foreign Language Department to reduce teaching hours and move towards evaluating and training young teachers. Please pray for discernment regarding God's will and direction in this matter, and for the formation of new relationships with faculty and incoming students this school year. Pray also for religious and political peace in their region, and for the re-surfacing of a seeker who became MIA (missing in action) over the summer. Ultimately, it is God who follows and draws people to Himself.

Seng and Jennifer

Seng and Jennifer left Seattle a year ago to partner with Food for the Hungry in Rwanda. Jen is involved as a Community Developer and Seng the Interim Regional Finance Director. Sen has moved offices to a location that is cost effective, more central and a little cozier. Jen is six-months pregnant with a healthy boy growing inside of her! They just celebrated their 4th year of marriage and is taking a "babymoon" safari vacation in Kenya as we speak. Please pray for wisdom for Seng and his finance team as they finish their annual budget, and for the continued health of Jen and the new life.

David and Moonjung

For the past eight years, David, Moonjung, and their children Joey and Rohaam have served in Cambodia through the ministry of Crossroads, where university students practice communal living and are taught, discipled and equipped to follow Christ Jesus. Crossroads continues to minister to thirty-eight young men and women living there with new registrations coming in this month. Another church plant is underway as an appropriate location is sought. In light of the rate of inflation and rent increase, many Christian groups are endorsing the "house church model" where expenses are cheaper. Please seek the Lord's provision around church plant location, and for His protection, omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience to envelop them as they face intense attacks from the powers of darkness.

Paul

Paul and Nien are heavily involved with Christian National Evangelism Commission in Southeast Asia (CNECSEA). Headquartered in Singapore, this organization focuses on school planting, tribal outreach, micro-enterprises and children sponsorship among the least reached and most oppressed and impoverished countries. Please pray for Paul as he travels to New Zealand this month to teach, preach and counsel on the subjects of church leadership and missions, music and worship, and CNEC ministries. Pray that the Lord would grant him wisdom and guidance to speak boldly and powerfully, and would preserve him and Nien and strengthen their physical bodies amidst the cold weather. Pray also for two Christian co-laborers as they reach the Burmese factory and restaurant workers with Christ's love and compassion.

Janet

Janet started a business consulting firm that seeks to permeate small and medium-sized enterprises with the gospel and values of Jesus Christ. The Drucker Academy has appointed her firm as the sole agent in their market and she is signing contracts with top companies to implement Drucker training sessions. Since June, they have moved to a new office space, recruited two more families to join their team, signed on new clients, became involved with a big hotel project, and let go of two staff. As of this month, a couple has arrived at her region and the husband has started interviewing for positions and is in need of God's guidance and discernment. Janet also covets our prayers for stamina as she finishes the proposal for a school pilot project, devises ways to market Drucker seminars, and make personnel decisions regarding staff.

Devendra and Koko

Devendra, Koko and their four children Wenona, Karen, Tepootu and Avinash are involved in evangelistic campaigns in the least reached areas of SE Asia. In the hard working farming communities where people are turning to Christ, six believers were baptized. Please pray for their growth in the love and knowledge of Christ, and for the Lord's reign, purpose and peace over the regions of continued political unrest and persecution.

Simon and Becky

Simon, Becky and their daughter Charissa are a part of International Students, Inc., a ministry striving to build cross-cultural friendships between international students and Americans on the UW campus. While their basement was flooded in Dec 07 and their car stolen in Apr 08, they have been able to put up new walls in their homes and secure parts to restore their vehicle. Last month, they also returned from a conference in Las Vegas where they shared the ISI vision attended by 2,600 international students! Please continue to pray for the Lord to rise up co-laborers for the harvest, and for unity, vision and rest during their Seattle Staff Retreat this month. Please pray also for Becky and Charissa as they transition the latter into kindergarten! Their family will also have two Japanese nursing students staying with them temporarily and would covet our prayers around their readiness to receive the gospel message.

Alex

Alex, Kristi and their family were involved in a sports ministry in Taiwan which allowed Alex to build impacting relationships with young athletes. It has been a year since they have relocated to a new area and the last two months have been a really intense time as they prepare for the arrival of various short-term teams. Life has been very eventful to include, but not limited to: an apt eviction for people they were responsible for, a dead computer, an ailing cell phone, a stolen wallet with registration papers inside, delayed flights and a broken tooth. A real estate agent also ran off with the $10,000 used to provide accommodations for arriving teams, and steps are taken to get repayment from his parents. Please pray, pray, and pray for protection and peaceful travels, for unity, servant hearts, flexibility, and adaptability as teams trickle in. Pray also for opened hearts, God-given opportunities, and for the Holy Spirit to win many for His Kingdom's sake.

Florence

Florence is involved in a ministry based in CA that ministers to and educates orphans, poor children and believers in SE Asia through music, seminars and the internet. For the past few months, Florence got cataract surgery on her left eye, traveled to SE Asia to witness to many Chinese people, and was a part of an outreach mtg of which among the 3,000 people attended, many came to faith. She covets our prayers as she will soon experience the empty-nest syndrome with the marriage of her son. Please remember her future daughter-in-law's spiritual growth, God's provision for an administrative assistant, and the Lord's guidance in the arrangement of gospel songs for Sept's outreach mtgs.
